Our Credentials and Education

KPOC Nurse Midwives

Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) are registered nurses who have graduated from a nurse-midwifery education program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME) and have passed a national certification examination to receive the professional designation of Certified Nurse Midwife. In the state of California, Certified Nurse Midwives hold a current registered nurse license and are Master Degree prepared in Women’s Health. The American College of Nurse-Midwives (www.acnm.org) is the professional association that represents our profession. CNMs are legally authorized to practice in every state in the United States and in the District of Columbia. We are required to keep current in our practice by completing several continuing education classes annually for our CNM and RN licensure.
