Welcome! I hope this site provides you with information about my training, interests, and Gynecologic oncology practice. I am happy to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente team and look forward to being a partner with you in your own healthcare.
Biography
I was born and raised in Michigan. I started my education there and completed my residency in Washington, DC. Following residency, I practiced in an academic and private practice model performing advanced laparoscopy in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC. I returned to Michigan to complete a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology, focusing my research on early detection modalities for ovarian cancer. These diverse experiences led me to join the Southern California Permanente Medical Group to continue to provide outstanding and excellent patient care.
About my practice
Our practice in gynecologic oncology focuses on the comprehensive care of a patient with a limited number of female reproductive tract cancers, such as ovarian, uterine, vulvar, and cervical cancer. By focusing on these few cancers we specialize in both performing the surgery and administering the chemotherapy. We actively participate in national and industry-sponsored clinical trials and continue to present research at national meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals. We incorporate a minimally invasive approach to gynecologic oncology whenever possible. At times, we are also involved in complex non-malignant gynecologic surgeries. I have been performing surgery using advanced laparoscopy and the DaVinci robotic system since 2006. I am honored that members have entrusted me with their care and strive to treat them as I would my own family.
How I thrive
I try to keep balance in my life and remember what's really important to me. I am an avid sports fan, try to exercise, enjoy reading, and love to learn. I find that most of my activities outside the hospital revolve around my wife and two young children. It is this time with family and friends that I believe provides me with inspiration, motivation, and the ability to thrive.
