Biography
I was born in South Korea and moved to the US with my family when I was 9 months old. We lived in Texas briefly as my father was stationed in the army and then spent most of my childhood in the valley area of Los Angeles County.
I spent most of my college and post graduate training years in the Bay Area. I have practiced as a nurse midwife in Chicago, New York City, and mainly in recent years in Los Angeles. My husband and I met in college and we have 2 young sons. On most of my days off work you will see me at local parks, taking my kids to classes, or attending and being involved in our local church.
About my practice
I have been a midwife for about 10 years now and I am so honored to be a part of this rewarding and special time in a woman's life. I believe my role is to support our pregnant patients in having a healthy pregnancy emotionally and physically. I also enjoy seeing our non-pregnant gynecology patients and counseling on birth control options, planning for pregnancy, and helping a woman through the transition into menopause and beyond.
Several years ago I lost over 40 pounds through diet and exercise. It changed my life and I always try to educate my patients on how to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into their own unique situations. I truly believe that it is possible to make changes in our lives through hard work and healthy, daily smart choices.
How I thrive
I have two busy toddler sons that make me run around and stay fit! I am also expecting my 3rd son in a few months and adding yet another active boy to our household.
I have been a long distance runner for many years, although I do often cut back during my pregnancies. I hope someday when my children are older to resume running at least half marathons, I love the feeling of endorphins after a nice long run.
My family and I like to enjoy the benefits of living in Orange County, frequenting Disneyland and Discovery Cube to keep our toddlers busy (and tired!). If time allows, I enjoy going to musicals and the Hollywood Bowl, going on bike rides by the beach, traveling, and hikes. We love Hawaii and hope to visit again soon someday. We recently moved to Orange County and have enjoyed living near family and friends, it is a wonderful place to raise children.
