About me
I hope that this Web page tells you a little about my medical practice and about me personally. I love all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology but am especially interested in minimally invasive surgical techniques using laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, as well as correction of urinary incontinence and pelvic prolapse problems. I enjoy caring for teenaged women, pregnant women, mature and menopausal women and helping them with the health issues that they face at every stage of their lives.
Biography
A native of Southern California, I went to Germany during college and developed a love for travel and other cultures. In medical school, I spent time in Greece with a cardiac surgery team. I trained Ob/Gyn residents in Taiwan for six years and learned to speak Mandarin. I followed that with six years in Malawi, East Africa, training midwives and overseeing a large maternal child community health program, as well as developing a referral center for obstetrical fistula repair. I had a private practice in Oregon before I joined Kaiser Permanente. I have since traveled to China twice to set up a laparoscopic training program in Hangzhou. I am happily married with four grown children (two doctors, one nurse and a florist). I am devoted to my wife, children and now a grandson. It's exciting to return to my native Southern California to join my extended family and to surf at Salt Creek near my home in Dana Point. I feel grateful and privileged to care for my patients.
About my practice
At Kaiser Permanente, I have the unique opportunity to work with a talented and dedicated team of medical colleagues, nurse midwives, nurses, and medical assistants. The interaction of each of the Ob/Gyn team is vital in providing you, the patient, with quality, comfortable, personalized care. I am surrounded with professionals that love what they are doing and believe they can make a difference in your life. The most important person on our team is you, and I want to encourage you to ask questions, to learn more about your care and to thrive.
How I thrive
I believe that a balanced life of exercise, careful eating, emphasis on loving, personal relationships, giving and receiving, adequate rest and relaxation, as well as a belief in a power greater than myself keeps me happy, healthy and thriving. I love water sports, especially surfing, and I try to work out in the gym several times a week, as well as walk up the stairs at the office and in the hospital. I enjoy going on walks and talking with my wife. We like to travel with our family and friends.
