About me
Welcome to my Web page. I am glad this page allows me to introduce myself and tell you about my practice. My wonderful colleagues and our members add to the pleasure of my work at Kaiser Permanente. I look forward to working with you to care for your health. I usually go by Dr. Short, as I received my medical degree before getting married.
Biography
I grew up in a small town near Rochester, New York. I decided to be a physician while in college, as I liked science and also wanted to do something people-oriented. I moved to the West Coast after completing medical school, and I have never left the Western United States since. I am married to an electrical engineer and we have one teenager. We moved back to Orange County in 2008, so we have enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. Most of our activities outside of work involve family and school. We have more couple time now that our son is older.
About my practice
I work with an excellent team of physicians and staff who are dedicated to providing quality care for your newborn infant, particularly when intensive care is required. In addition to morning rounds, we meet regularly to improve our quality of care, and we discuss the medical literature with our colleagues from other facilities. I am also a member of several committees at the medical center.
How I thrive
I try to be physically active every day; I swim and/or do water aerobics year-round. Even when confined to the hospital for more than 24 hours, I walk on the Thrive Path outside. My family generally follows the two-vegetable rule at dinner. I also enjoy hiking, snorkeling, skiing, music, cultural activities, and reading. My husband and I like to end the day with late-night comedy, as laughter is important to us.
