Women’s Cancer
The specialty of Gynecologic Oncology is unique in its approach to the care of women with gynecologic cancers. Our specialists are focused on the surgical evaluation, chemotherapy and supportive care for women with cancers arising from the ovary, uterus, cervix, vulva and vagina. We believe in a team approach when providing comprehensive cancer care, which includes the unique combination of the physician performing surgery as well as managing chemotherapy.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Kaiser Orange County has an active Women’s Cancer program. The practice includes Devansu Tewari MD, a Gynecologic Oncologist who has coordinated the program since 2007. Our second Gynecologic Oncologist, Jay P. Shah MD, joined our team in 2010 while our Nurse Coordinator, Patricia Wride, RN, has been involved in managing the practice since 2008.
Together we have developed a comprehensive team approach providing our patients with the most advanced surgical procedures including minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques. In addition, our patients have access to state of the art chemotherapeutic techniques from intraperitoneal chemotherapy and National Cancer Institute supported clinical trials in Women’s Cancer in which our group are the leading providers within the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. In what is most often a challenging time, it is our intention to provide appropriate and timely care while making every moment count for our patients and their families.
