Welcome to my Web page. I am a neonatologist, which is a pediatrician who specializes in treating preterm or ill newborn infants. Neonatologists also attend deliveries for babies born prematurely or if an obstetrician suspects there may be a complication during or after the delivery.
Biography
I grew up in California. I completed my undergraduate work at UC San Diego and attended medical school at the University of Iowa. Although I enjoyed living in the Midwest, I came back to California to complete my medical training at UC Irvine (residency and fellowship) to be closer to home. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2009. I chose to become a doctor to help people.
About my practice
I work in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). My colleagues and I in the NICU believe in a team-based approach to care for newborns. We work closely with nurses, occupational therapists, dieticians, social workers, and respiratory therapists to provide comprehensive care. Parent involvement is also an integral part of our treatment plan. At times when parents feel helpless, it is our job to do our best to give them confidence and hope.

I thrive when I spend time with my family. I also enjoy going for a hike, walk, or run.
